~ M E M O R I E S ~

My favorite relative is my grandfather, Mike Caswell. He lives in Liberty, Texas. He moved there right before the storm. They lived right in front of the 17th Street Canal. I lived by them also. The reason he is my favorite relative is because I can go and talk to him since he basically knows everything about me and I know a lot about him.

He and I always talked about the Saints and LSU football. He was asked to play for the Saints on May 5, 1967. He received a letter from them asking him to try out when he was at LSU. He went to Jesuit and played football. He played football when they used leather helmets, now they don't use them anymore. We always used to play poker with fake chips. I always beat him but I think he'd lose on purpose to make me happy.

We always once a month have boys day out. That is when we go do something like go see a movie, go see a Saints game or just drive around and see downtown New Orleans. After we do that we usually go out to eat.

The two places that we always go to is Ye Olde College Inn which was tore down after the hurricane. That is where I had my first Barq's Root Beer.

If we decided not to go there, we would go to Middendorf's Seafood in Manchac. They have the best thin catfish in the world. That was also the first time eating catfish.

The best boys day out that I remember was just recently. It was last year when my grandparents came down to sell their old house. We already made reservations to go to Middendorf's Seafood. We didn't do anything before that. It was just a day to sit down and talk about what has happened since we last met. This is why my grandfather is my favorite relative.
